What a week Portland.

This Week started off being slow; I had an interview planned with my friend about Maladaptive Daydreaming which is a mental illness that not many have heard about. While I was researching this subject I decided to just ask people around me at random and of all the people I talked to only one knew about it and only because when I described the condition they perked up and said it described their Ex-boyfriend. I could not find any books on the subject at either Barnes and Noble or Powell’s (if Powell’s ain’t got it, no one does) so off to google and found two books that looked self-published. Needless to say it was a little frustrating trying to gather info, Thankfully Cordellia knows all about this.

I got to sit down with her and talk about Maladaptive Daydreaming and the effects it has had on her life and why she chose to become the face of it and get this information out to the public.

The worst part about the week was the news about the stabbing on the MAX where a known mentally ill man and known bigot

Jeremy Christian had started to harass two teenage girls on the MAX that where of non white descent and reportedly Muslim screaming anti-Islamic slurs, anti-Immigration and reportedly other hate filled trash that cause three men, three men with families to confront him to stop the tirade. Jeremy responded by killed two of the men and wounding another with a knife. Mr Christian was apprehended with out much of a struggle, I assume he felt safe with the white police officers. I would like you all to take a look at this man, I see a coward who resorted to violence, I see a man who needed help and no one gave it to him, I see a country that failed him. I want you to see him like I did, I watched him march down Se 82nd avenue with the intention of fighting Antifa and other counter protesters. Go look at the words he spoke on his Facebook feed look at him with the Nazi salute wrapped in the american flag using it as a shield for fascism. look at him! This is what my city is becoming, Hate and ignorance. there is a Gofundme for the survivor of the attack if you can donate please do since this is america and the land of the free and the home of the medical debt.

Walking back from the Employment department in Southeast Portland I stopped into a used bookstore I had never seen in the years of walking up and down Se Foster until then so I stepped in to the door to see piles of books, VHS, DVDs, and now archaic CDs lining the small walls of the shop. The smell of the old books made me feel at home, I looked through the piles of paperbacks looking for buried treasure of old bands and if I was lucky comic books, the proprietor of the shop is an older gent with a small stature, grey mustache and balding grey hair that makes him look like a science fiction scientist in an off brand tracksuit. We talk about vinyl records and how he makes more sales via Ebay with the old records than he does with his books, I take a peek in his back room and see a wall of VHS tapes in large cardboard boxes with the bright pink logos of gonzo porn, next to the videos are stacks of porn magazines. This doesn’t bother me, I used to work at a porn shop and consider myself to be a professional pervert with my private life.

I find two Cds, Poe’s one and only release that mattered and a band calling themselves Necrodancer a local unit that seems to have not gone any ware that I knew of at that moment in time. I ran across to the Fred Meyers to get cash since the shop was unable to take card, The owner tells me about the other store he bought out and how the previous owner ran the business to the ground with the adult material, we talk about the back room porn collection for a bit, about how some shops where raided for the German porn (he corrected me later saying it was from Holland) for under age pornography since in the Netherlands the age of consent is sixteen and of course eighteen in the States. HE told me about the large collection of Bestiality videos he makes and distributes because in Oregon Bestiality is still legal, A law I believe Port Orford takes full advantage of.

I left the store after he told me about the special videos he has of “little girls dancing in front of daddies camera” but assured me there was no sex in those videos, I took my CDs and a copy of exotic with the shops address to look up later and see if I could prove a suspicion that he had other videos he sells and was fishing me to be a buyer.

Walking home with a pair of twentyfour ounce lagers in my back pack I ran into my neighborhood band Krooked Finger and we talked shop and invited me over to find out about the band, oh did we talk.
