Hot enough to melt my cold heart

Looks like another hot week here in Portland, hot enough my roommates told me to go spend time in the office( only room in the house with AC) to cool off. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke is a real thing for us Cascadians since we can deal with the rain and cold but you send us high temperatures or gods forbid the dreaded snow and watch the city lose it. At least for me I'm attempting to brave it and not go out and get an A.C unit for my little room but I'm starting to lose that battle quickly since no sleep is starting to take effect and giving me awesome dreams, dreams that might turn into a new radio play? stay tuned I'm still working on the script for it so I may be recording said show with a few select actors I trust (and work for beer) in the near future brought to you by fever dreams and dehydration.
getting on to the good stuff for the show This week I'm rather happy to have a few more Pigfest bands to spin, Secret Light and Adrian H and The Wounds both from Portland and I'm really digging on these guys.
The Secret Light has a real classic darkwave/Postpunk sound that is mellow and reflective with a flow to the verse that lets you sway to the melody and just smile. Being a bassist and ever in search of the tone that eludes me the bass on this is amazing! deep echo that reminds you of a water filled well that Peter Murphy is attempting to relay some wisdom through ripples on the surface, yes I'm looking for my eyeliner now.
Now with Adrian H and the Wounds they invoke a noir like dreamscape where the three deities are Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen so please pay you respects and tributes accordingly. The songs on their records drips with atmosphere and perfect for night where you need to end a vendetta, worth your time and as an older LARP geek I wish I had their stuff when I was running World of Darkness games.
Not to take the attention away from Portland or the darker music but I would like to direct your attention to a little band from the Bronx called Alekhine's gun, female fronted groove metal that wears the Black and death influences on their sleeves, bonus points if you recognize the Lead vocalist.
Now for a bit of fun, BEER!!! this weeks review comes from another brew from Gigantic brewing with their "Collaba Pale Ale" Axies of evil . Made in collaboration with 3 Floyds brewing with an ALC at 6% and an IBU at 70 it's a more amber pale ale and the malts complement the citrus taste from the hops, it's bitter on the back end but enjoyable and I am not an IPA fan as a rule. It is a limited release so get it now before it goes away, which I'm kinda surprised it's not on their year round line but that might help beer nuts enjoy it more due to the small amount of drink time, but hey the formula works for the McMenamins.
