Watching the news on TV is a universe away from seeing the news.

I went to go meet a friend for coffee at Pip’s Doughnuts off of Ne Fremont St and I took the MAX into the Hollywood district, the scene where Jeremy Christian had killed two men, injured a third and had planned who knows what to a pair black teenage women. There are chalk notes, signs of supports wilting flowers and candles all up and down the stairs and ramp to the platform. I had stopped to take pictures of the memorial and watched people walking to and from the light rail train going on with their day some only glancing at the dying flowers, others stopping in somber reverence. I was one of the somber ones, I removed my hat in the rain and hoped it hid the tears but I knew the anger was visible in me, he and other like him hurt my city and emotions that strong will not stay hidden so I walked, I walked the long way to the meeting point. I walked with a purpose, of righteous imagination and yes, hatred. I walked hopping to see a swastika clad bastard wearing the flag as a cape so I could up root his evil in some vain illusion of vengeance. I walked fast to exhaust that energy so that I no longer felt the need to cry and rage I took that anger out on Ne Siskiyou marching up that hill until I found the doughnut shop. I found my friend and hugged her as hard as I felt would not crush her slight frame in my arms. We talked about our lives and Camera techniques which is a privilege the living have.

On the This week’s show I have an Interview with Jareth Sampson , a local musician who has written one of the best folk songs I’ve heard in years called Hymn of the Soul Eaters which I featured on the show. I rather enjoyed our talk and I’m looking forward to hearing the new song “Endless Night” to hit.

Been friends on Facebook with Cosmo Morte for years talking music and politics which I knew he worked with musicians and bands for some reason it never occurred to me that he had a band called Scream machine which is an Independent Industrial unit that does everything in house and honestly this is quality I should have been hearing in the clubs I used to frequent with the black eyeliner and clove smokes.
Cosmo I’m a dork sorry it took so long.
The Band had a bit of a setback when their home was demolished by a tornado that touched down and they thought they had lost all the new material but thankfully they found the recordings in the wreckage and will still be releasing new music soon. The bummer part is they lost their home and accrued medical expenses, if you can help take a look at their Go Fund Me and help out in any way you can.
This band on the show is unique as far as Black Metal goes, Demogoroth Satanum Hails from Soweto, South Africa and is an all members are black in the band. For black metal that is not just unique but unheard of due to local culture and out right racist ideals in the Black Metal scene so these guys are blazing new trails at home and abroad.
